“Deny your weakness, and you will never realize God’s strength in you.” -Joni Eareckson Tada
You & I have great potential—we could even change the world. That’s a fact.
But here’s another fact: You & I are imperfect. No matter how much we try to maintain an image that says, “I’ve got it all together”……. we don’t.
Truthfully, nobody has it all together—nobody is perfect. (No matter what their social media makes it look like.) We’ve all got our struggles and flaws—whether obvious or whether they hide underneath the surface.
Basically, we’re weak. We’re prone to sin, drawn by temptation, and devoid of control of the outside world—sometimes it’s even hard to control ourselves.
Even as Christians, we survey our still-in-progress selves and wonder—can God even use me? Can I even make a difference in my world?
The answer is YES. But not on our own strength!
When we rely on our own strength and try to put on this image of being “perfect” and without faults, we exhaust ourselves by trying to be someone we’re not. We mislead people into believing that we are somehow infallible and set their expectations so high that, if we fail—well, that’s unthinkable.
So don’t deny weakness. On our own, we are all weak.
But HE is strong.
The power of the Holy Spirit working in us is the key to world changing—the key to successful living. If Jesus is your Lord, then you’ve been given the Holy Spirit and God wants to use YOU for greatness. Prepare for adventure.
You & I may be weak on our own, but we’ve got a POWERFUL, HOLY GOD living and working in and through us! He is SO STRONG. With Him on the throne of our hearts, we go from losing battles to OVERCOMING, from unsuccessful attempting to MAKING A DIFFERENCE in this world for the cause of the Gospel, from aimless trying to PURPOSEFUL LIVING.
By the grace of God and the strength we receive from walking in His Spirit, we can resist temptation and sin, live in righteousness and holiness, and bring Him all the glory!!
~Just look at what the Bible says about living out His strength in us!~
Jesus said, “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10)
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and turn away from evil.” (Proverbs 3:5-7)
“…the weakness of God is stronger than man.” (1 Corinthians 1:25)
“And He has said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.’ Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Corinthians 12:9-10)
With Him, we have the potential to change the world—even if only a few people’s worlds—with a purpose and with a motivation. Jesus in us makes us strong. Jesus in us makes us pure and worthy. Jesus in us makes us capable.
So give credit for God’s goodness and work through us where it’s due—it’s not us. Let’s stop trying to make people think that it’s us—that’s just an act. Alone, we’re weak. Give all the glory to the God who makes us strong.
