THANK YOU, friends, for all the encouragement, cheering, and celebrating you sent my way as my second-ever book, Devoted: A Girl’s 31-Day Guide to Good Living with a Great God, released a couple weeks ago on May 1.

W O W.

What a big, exciting day to launch a project that testifies to God’s faithfulness in using everyday people to accomplish His grand purposes. I am overwhelmed and humbled how all He asks is that we say “YES!” in obedience, and the Lord does the rest! He is the one changing lives, hearts, and minds. He is the one who deserves all the applause and praise!

Get a couple copies for yourself and for the girls in your life! Devoted is available wherever books are sold. It’s a coloring devotional for young women on living life devoted to Christ, and it’s perfect for a gift, an individual, or group study!

Clear the Stage

Clear the stage and set the sound and lights ablaze
If that’s the measure you must take to crush the idols
… We must not worship something that’s not even worth it.
Clear the stage, make some space for the One who deserves it

Clear the Stage // Jimmy Needham

Y’all all need to go listen to Jimmy Needham’s song “Clear the Stage.” It is a convicting call to cast off the sins we have idolized—the sins that we have been unwilling to give up, even though Jesus paid the bloody price to free us—and love God most. We love Him most, so we make Him Lord over our hearts—He takes center stage and first place.

Sometimes we think of idolatry as primitive, Old Testament business—but idolatry is alive, well, and rampant today, even in our own lives! Learn to identify those idols… as the lyrics say,

Anything I put before my God is an idol.
Anything I want with all my heart is an idol.
Anything I can’t stop thinking of is an idol.
Anything that I give all my love is an idol.

“Dear children, keep yourselves from idols,” 1 John 5:21 (NIV) says. Idols can take many forms—sinful habits, fleshly desires and inclinations, & even good things and blessings, like people in our lives, jobs, opportunities, fame, money, you name it.

We have the innate desire to worship. But rather than worshipping the created, let’s lift up high the Name of our Creator who is above ALL in Heaven and on earth (Romans 1:25). We were made to worship and behold the Lord in His splendor and to bring Him glory!!

FINAL #AThanksPrayerADay: God’s Blessings In My Life

Happy Thanksgiving! Final Day 6: Today I thank God for the blessings in my life.

Dear God,

You are so good to me! You have blessed me beyond what I can measure or fathom. Far too often, I take for granted the many priceless treasures You’ve placed in my life. Gifts like a loving family, my needs above and beyond met, the opportunity for a good education, a wonderful church, good health, godly friends who encourage me in my walk with You—none of which I deserve or am entitled to—but You have chosen to bless me with these gifts, honors, and responsibilities. I thank You for that.

Please enable me to be a good steward of all that you’ve lovingly entrusted to me. Create in me a pure heart that I may serve you more effectively. Lord, you’ve blessed me with so much in my life, and I realize that there are people in the world that do not have the blessings I have. Show me how to bless others from a loving servant’s heart. Instead of playing the comparison game or looking at the things around me that go wrong, I pray that you will help me to count my blessings and be in awe of Your goodness to me. Thank you Lord.

You overwhelm me with blessings every day, Lord. Help me to thank You in the way that I live my life.

In Jesus’s Name, Amen.

I wish you a Merry Thanksgiving, friends! Enjoy it with loved ones, delicious food, and a day of rest in the presence of the Lord who gives us so much to be thankful for!

Post what blessings from God you are thankful for on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram (use the hashtag #AThanksPrayerADay), comment on this post, or send me a letter in the Contact section! As always, I love when you drop me a note to say hello! :)
